I've been silent here for a while partially because I focused more on OpenSource and my @suiware project but it's not the only reason. You can guess what's the other reason - the rise of the generative AI and demotivating effect of the subsequent devaluation of almost any creative work.
Many people including me noticed a reduction in the number of visitors to their blogs. That's because today AI summarizes content for you without you needing to visit the source site in most cases.
However, I think it actually makes sense to continue going against the hype and write content myself because...
-
I enjoy sharing my thoughts and experience. I think it's part of my professional self-realization, so doing that just for myself is already a big win.
-
Your feedback improves my understanding. I have my blind spots which you help highlight with your comments.
-
Writing helps formulate thoughts better. English is my second language, so I need to practice it by any means available including this one.
-
My writing shows my personality to my future users, clients and partners. It shows what I care about and illustrates my opinions on things.
-
AI lies. Recently OpenAI wrote about the fact that AI tries to exploit loopholes or in other words find the easiest way to answer your question even if it involves lying to you. It means that you still cannot fully rely on AI.
So let me keep writing for you and for myself despite what influencers dictate, and let's see what happens next.
